# Bringing order to chaos > [!noteinfo] > 09.06.2026 · Origin: 2026.06.09 – nota – poner orden al caos > ES: [[Poner orden al caos]] · IT: [[Mettere ordine nel caos]] · CA: [[Posar ordre al caos]] · #painting #pedagogy #water #harvest My painting process works with natural processes: water, pigments and their physics. I impose no form; I disappear, accompanying and intervening in a patient play of chaos and control, control and chaos, until the work is fulfilled. The same holds for teaching: to accompany to the end without the teacher ever being glimpsed. > [!quote]- Resonance > Shitao: "Who cleaves the chaos, if not the Single Stroke?" > > *Huayulu* 畫語錄, ch. 7 "絪縕" (Yīnyūn): 「筆與墨會,是為絪縕。絪縕不分,是為混沌。闢混沌者,舍一畫而誰耶?」 — "When brush and ink meet, they form the primordial breath (*yīnyūn*); while that breath stays undivided, it is chaos (*hùndùn*); and who cleaves the chaos, if not the Single Stroke (*yīhuà*)?". Version checked against the translations of [Ryckmans](https://www.babelio.com/livres/Shitao-Les-propos-sur-la-peinture-du-moine-Citrouille-Ame/59002) (fr.) and Strassberg (*Enlightening Remarks on Painting*, 1989). The phrase "the brush serves to save things from chaos" in *Mi Siglo* is a loose paraphrase. > > See also: [[SHITAO, EL PINCEL, LA MANO Y EL CORAZÓN]] · [Shan Shui Projects](https://www.shanshuiprojects.net/the-philosophy-of-life-in-the-philosophy-of-art-in-shitaos-huayulu/)
